Product Description:

In the coastal regions, the tides determine everyday life. Especially people with an affinity to the sea such as anglers, sailors, surfers, swimmers or mudflat hikers are guided by the tides.
This decorative tide clock provides information about the local tide status and the remaining hours up to the ebb or flood.

The modern design in fresh shades of blue was developed exclusively for TFA by Nicole Jaecke. Together with the high-quality stainless steel frame and the glass cover, it makes the tide clock a great accessory for maritime interior design.

On most coasts, a change between high and low water takes place about every 6 hours.
The tidal rhythm has to do mainly with the gravitational forces of the moon. Unlike a solar day, a lunar day takes about 24 hours and 50 minutes. So the earth needs an extra 50 minutes to "catch up" with the moon. This clock is designed so that its hand circles the dial every 12 hours and 25 minutes (twice per lunar day). This is how long a tide takes, i.e. the period of time between two phases of high or low water. The tide clock shows the highest water level (high tide) at "12 noon" and the lowest water level (low tide) at "6 o'clock". In between, the remaining hours (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) are given up to the ebb or flood. .

The timing of the tides vary from region to region. Set the tide clock to your favourite location on the coast: Your home, holiday residence, caravan site or favourite surf spot. You can obtain the current tidal position for your location from the official tide tables in local newspapers or search on the Internet.
