Thermometer Guns on Coronavirus Front Lines
Infra Red Thermometers like some of the ones listed on Temperature Shop do not measure temperature directly. They analyse the surface of the object an calculate the temperature by reflectance of IR light back into the lens of the instrument. They are hugely influenced by how they are used and the environment they are used in. They should not be used in very cold or very hot environments. So reasonable error in measurement can occur by unskilled users. Additionally the use of industrial type thermometers should not be used for medical purposes as they are also not designed for a narrow range of measurement ie 36-38C and they often have a laser pointer making them extremely dangerous when pointed to forehead.
